Court ruling puts off Czech elections

The Czech Republic’s constitutional court struck down on Thursday a special law that would have allowed for early parliamentary elections to be held next month, putting off the likely date of the vote until early November.

The decision is likely to throw the current election campaign – in which the centre-right Civil Democratic Party (ODS) and the left-of-centre Social Democrats are neck and neck – into turmoil.
