Qwest names telecoms veteran as CEO

Qwest Communications, the fourth largest US telecommunications group, on Monday named an experienced telecoms executive and retail manager, Edward Mueller, as its new chief executive.

He will succeed Richard Notebaert, who is retiring on Wednesday, having steered the Denver-based telecoms group back from the brink of bankruptcy. Mr Notebaert flagged his intention to step down several months ago.
