A British computer specialist, who is being sought by the US authorities for what was allegedly the biggest hacking effort into military computers ever detected, on Wednesday lost the first round of his fight against extradition.

 A judge at Bow Street magistrates court gave a green light to the US authorities' request to extradite Gary McKinnon, so that the 40-year-old hacker can stand trial on computer and fraud charges in Virginia.
