Union votes to end NY transit strike

A sense of relief spread across New York on Thursday as strike-weary commuters learned that transit workers would return to their jobs, ending a three-day ordeal that strained the patience of the city and cost it hundreds of millions of dollars.

The transit workers’ union voted on Thursday afternoon to end the strike while contract negotiations continued. Normal service was expected to resume on Friday.
