Watchdog demands takeover alerts

Companies that become over-dominant through takeovers launched without official approval will be forced to reverse them and pay to help clear up the aftermath, competition watchdogs have said in their latest warning to business.

David Roberts, head of remedies at the Competition Commission, said the authority wanted companies to alert it to potential problems in advance rather than waste time and money by doing deals that would later have to be scrapped
