This week is fashion week in New York. Next week will be knock-off week. Copycat couturists all over the world will be rushing to reproduce cheap copies of next spring's fashions now - before Vera Wang can even get her turquoise togas to market.

In hundreds of sweatshops around the world, underpaid workers will be soon be slaving to recreate the flapper flounces of Diane von Furstenberg and the severe suits of Narciso Rodriguez - all for a fraction of the price.
