While playing American football at Dartmouth college in the late 1960s, Hank Paulson earned the nickname “Hank the Hammer” for his bruising style of play.
Mr Paulson was small for an offensive tackle, just 6ft 1in and 198lb. But according to a record of the school’s all-time football greats, Mr Paulson played with “near-flawless style” on teams that won 23 games out of 27 over his three years as a starter.
