Pension rule change regressive, critics say

Life for UK pension trustees is about to get easier as the guidelines for how to run a pension fund are simplified, but critics say the changes are a step in the wrong direction.

Today is the final day for consultation on updating the Myners Principles, laid down in 2001. The government's suggestion, based on work by the National Association of Pension Funds, is to reduce the 10 principles to six, making them simpler so it is easier for different pension funds to apply them.
