TECHNOLOGY Selina Lo, chief executive of Silicon Valley-based Ruckus Wireless, has a reputation for being determined and refreshingly frank. So it’s no surprise she readily admits her decision to pursue a career in technology at the age of 18 was “calculated and completely mercenary”.
But the reasons behind her choice show another side: her parents had recently emigrated to California from their native Hong Kong to give their three children (Ms Lo is the eldest) a better life. They went from owning and managing a garment business to working in factories.
