GM to build electric car with Reva of India

General Motors and India’s Reva Electric Car on Thursday announced a tie-up to produce a battery-powered vehicle for South Asia based on the Detroit carmaker’s best-selling mini-car, Spark.

Under the alliance, GM will provide the vehicle platform and manufacturing facilities for the car, which will begin production next year, while Reva will supply the technology for the battery, electric drive train and power management systems.
