God’s wrath descended on the Scottish island of Lewis two weeks ago. Or so some of the locals would have us believe.

A ferry to the mainland left the little port of Stornoway on a Sunday, breaking an ancient sabbatarian taboo, and settling – presumably once and for all – a dispute that has riven the island for decades.
