Tourism: Longer-term challenge adds to present woes

It was always going to be a tough year for Greek tourism as the “post-Olympics effect”, a three- to four-year boost in arrivals for the host country of a summer Games, faded out.

With British tourists avoiding eurozone destinations because of the weak pound, Germans opting for holidays at home, and Russians cancelling charters of mega-yachts, the global slowdown has added to the sector’s woes.
