Oil remains choppy amid storm threat

Oil prices were choppy on Monday while gold briefly recovered to above $800 after sinking to its lowest for almost nine months on Friday.

The threat of disruption to oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico from tropical storm Fay pushed crude oil prices higher early in the session with Nymex September West Texas Intermediate rising $1.58 to a session high of $115.35 a barrel.
