Oleg Deripaska, the embattled Russian tycoon grappling to restructure billions of dollars of international debt, on Monday launched a fresh effort to derail a London legal claim made against him by a founding father of the country’s aluminium industry.
Mr Deripaska’s lawyer told the Court of Appeal in London that the High Court had “gone seriously wrong” in an earlier ruling, which allowed Michael Cherney to bring his case for a 13.2 per cent stake in UC Rusal in England because he risked being assassinated or wrongly arrested if he pursued it in Russia.
