Embraer, the Brazilian aircraft maker, has recruited 2,000 additional workers – over 10 per cent of its workforce – since the beginning of this year in an effort to overcome production problems and increase deliveries.
The group, the world’s leading maker of regional jets of up to 120 seats, has run into difficulties with some of its leading suppliers and at its own facilities as it seeks to raise the production rates of its family of E170/190 jets. It had a workforce of 19,265 at the end of December.
