China fixed asset investment grows to 25.7%

China's investment growth, the prime target of a government credit squeeze over the past year, slowed to the lowest rate in three years in the first four months of 2005, according to official statistics released on Thursday.

Although the monthly investment statistics in China are difficult to interpret because of the way they are collected, the slowdown in urban fixed asset investment growth to 25.7 per cent in the four months to April will be encouraging for Beijing.
