Mayor pledges to stop punishing motorists

London’s mayor has set out his “vision” for the capital’s transport system – but avoided spelling out his views on a number of pressing issues such as the future of the public-private partnership on the Underground .

Boris Johnson vows in a document to stop punishing motorists for using their cars, clear the streets of what he calls “traffic-throttling excrescences”, allow motorbikes to use bus lanes and introduce a new Routemaster bus with an open rear platform.
