US-style liberal arts degree at UCL

One of Britain’s leading higher education institutions plans to introduce a US-style liberal arts degree, in an experiment that challenges the dominant UK model of highly specialised syllabuses.

Malcolm Grant, provost of University College London, said he was responding partly to employers, who want “students who are literate and numerate and broadly based”.
