Hong Kong job cuts so far are just the start

Just a year ago, conversations among executives and bankers in Hong Kong centred on the size of their bonuses after a booming 2007. Now, their biggest concerns are whether they will still have a job next year.

As the global financial crisis spreads to Asia, Hong Kong is certainly not immune. Companies – from investment banks to fashion retailers – are already slashing jobs to cut costs, with many more reviewing their headcounts.
