Overview: New fears over US economy spark volatility

Fresh uncertainty about the outlook for the US economy triggered another wave of volatility in financial markets on Thursday.

Equities and the dollar came under pressure – in spite of a retreat for oil prices – while government bonds advanced, as second-quarter US growth data undershot expectations.
