European shares joined the global stock market rally on Friday, reaching their highest levels for two and a half weeks.
The FTSE Eurofirst 300 climbed 1.9 per cent to 1,012.23, taking it back through the 1,000 mark for the first time since October 22, and marking its biggest intraday percentage gain since August 21. The CAC 40 in Paris rose 2.1 per cent to 3,785.49 while the Xetra Dax in Frankfurt gained 2.4 per cent to 5,619.72.
