Telecommunications: Market door creaks open

It is no secret that Carlos Slim is the biggest name in Mexican telephony.

The principal shareholder of both of the country’s largest telephone companies, Telmex and Telcel, Mr Slim controls 85 per cent of the fixed-line market and around 75 per cent of mobile phones.
