Trevor Matthews, new chief executive of Friends Provident, has brought in former Standard Life colleague Evelyn Bourke as chief financial officer of the struggling insurer.

She will replace Charles Bellringer who became interim finance chief following the departure of Jim Smart in August just as Mr Matthews took up his post as chief executive.
