Figuring out role of migrant workers

An advertisement stressing the advantages of hiring Romanian building workers highlights the benefits and concerns aroused by the use of immigrant labour in important industries and services.

The promotion boasts the builders would be "available to work 10 hours per day, six days per week" ensuring the "completion of projects on time and in many in-stances ahead of schedule". The workers would be "an invaluable aid to contractors, not only providing the means to reverse the skilled manpower shortage within the industry, but also to bring their present excessive labour rates to a more acceptable commercial level".
