Probe creates rift within Canadian party

An inquiry into the business dealings of a former Conservative prime minister is creating rifts within the ranks of current Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper’s minority government, amid early signs that Conservatives are losing ground to the Liberals.

The Liberals, led by Michael Ignatieff, are buoyed by poll numbers that show them ahead of Mr Harper’s Conservatives.
