Offsetting business seen as a 'booming industry'

When Barclays decided to become carbon-neutral last year, Andrew Flett, the bank's environmental manager, was surprised by the large number of small offsetting companies offering their services.

"It's a carbon gold rush," he says. "It's very easy to set yourself up as a carbon offset provider . . . It's a booming industry."
