Oil ends roller-coaster week higher

Oil prices ended a volatile week with a bang. West Texas Intermediate crude surged $4 a barrel in half an hour on Friday but then pared gains to end the week up 1.8 per cent after a fortnight of sharp falls.

Prices were at $120-$128 a barrel all week, frustrating bulls and bears alike, before jumping to an intra-day high of $128.60 on Friday.
