DPJ may push for Japan to quit Iraq

The opposition Democratic Party of Japan, which took control of the upper house on Tuesday, is considering introducing a bill to end Tokyo’s logistical support in Iraq in a high-stakes attempt to embarrass the government.

Ichiro Ozawa, the DPJ president, said his party might submit a bill aimed at ending the supply flights the Japan Air Self-Defence Force flew to Baghdad and northern Iraq from Kuwait.
