Cobham boosted by dollar

Cobham, the defence and aerospace manufacturer, promoted its chief operating officer to the top job as it reported a sharp rise in profits and revenues in the first half thanks to acquisitions and the strong dollar.

Andy Stevens, who joined Cobham in 2003, was widely tipped for the role of chief executive after Allan Cook, the long serving incumbent, said earlier in the year that he would retire in December.
