Speaking of capital ratios, there are few bankers at Lazard who would know more about UBS than the Swiss bank's aforementioned onetime investment banking star, Ken Costa .

But it seems Mr Costa doesn't have an official role in the strategic review Lazard is conducting for UBS, where there might still be some sensitivities.
