Recruiters face tax clampdown

Recruitment agencies abusing a tax concession for temporary workers face a crackdown from Revenue & Customs after officials gave warning that employers flouting the rules were putting their reputations and businesses at risk.

Ministers have become increasingly concerned about the growing use of schemes that convert an element of a worker’s pay into tax-free expenses. In many cases, the employer takes the bulk of the saving, with little benefit to the worker.
