Mixed data weigh on US stocks

Wall Street struggled to recover its early losses on Tuesday as investors evaluated a barrage of economic data and a surprise quarterly loss from Warner Music.

The Commerce Department reduced its reading of the country’s gross domestic product, consumer spending proved to be weaker than previously thought and data showed that home prices had risen less than expected in September. Declining oil prices also weighed on commodity-based stocks.
