Toyota trims output in China as market slows

A weakening Chinese car market has forced Toyota to curb production in the country and threatened the Japanese carmaker’s ambitious sales targets.

Toyota and other global carmakers have been counting on a boom in car ownership in China – the world’s second-biggest market by volume – to help offset plunging sales in the US.
