First female vote in a Kuwaiti poll makes all women victors

There was a carnival-like atmosphere at some polling stations in Kuwait's capital on Thursday as women crowded in to vote for the first time in the country's history in a parliamentary election that will set the course for political reform.

Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Sabah, the interior and defence minister, told reporters turnout seemed exceptionally high despite temperatures that reached 47 degrees at midday.
