Tories puncture Brown’s ‘triumphalism’

Gordon Brown laid claim again to be leading the world in its response to the financial crisis, prompting Tory claims that the prime minister was engaging in “triumphalism” at a moment of economic emergency.

Mr Brown on Monday presided over the state-funded bail-out of some of Britain’s biggest banks before heading to the City to call for sweeping reforms of the world’s financial institutions.
