Blair gets French input on nuclear research

Britain is to strengthen co-operation with France on nuclear research and clean-up, Tony Blair announced yesterday in another sign of his belief in nuclear power as part of the answer to long-term energy needs.

At a bilateral summit in Paris, the prime minister agreed with Jacques Chirac, the French president, to set up a Franco-British forum involving the nuclear industry, technical experts and officials to discuss technology, decommissioning and waste management.
