MPC votes 9-0 for rate cut

The decision to cut UK interest rates this month was unanimous, Bank of England minutes show, surprising analysts who had expected a close decision and raising hopes of another cut early in 2008.

It is the first time all nine members of the Bank’s monetary policy committee have voted for a cut since 2001, signalling policymakers are more worried about risks of slowing growth and lower medium-term inflation than about short-term inflation.
