Frank Gehry, arguably the world’s most famous architect, is finally getting to build in London. It may be a temporary structure, but this year’s Serpentine Pavilion looks like being a stunning departure for an architect whose dramatic designs, including Bilbao’s Guggenheim museum and Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall, are often credited with reviving city centres.
The Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens runs an extraordinarily ambitious programme of temporary pavilions beside its original building, a converted brick-built tea room.
