Beatty takes up helm at Assoc News

Kevin Beatty has been appointed managing director of Associated Newspapers, the publisher behind the Daily Mail, replacing Murdoch MacLennan at the helm of one of Britain's most successful newspaper groups.

Yesterday's announcement confirmed industry speculation that Mr MacLennan, who has a two-year contract with Associated, was negotiating an exit from Associated after being poached by the Barclay brothers to be chief executive of the Telegraph Group.
