Animal activists deny blackmail

An international conspiracy to shut down a leading drugs research company by bombarding its suppliers with violent threats, hoax bombs and even sanitary towels allegedly contaminated with HIV was outlined yesterday at the landmark blackmail trial of five animal rights activists.

Huntingdon Life Sciences has long been a core UK target of extremists opposed to testing pharmaceutical products on live animals.
