Congress lifts blocks on BAE arms deals

The US Congress has lifted blocks on BAE Systems arms transfer requests after the company assured key committees that the deals were unrelated to a scrapped UK investigation into bribery allegations involving Saudi Arabia.

The news came as the chairman of an international anti-bribery group urged Britain to investigate the circumstances surrounding the £1bn allegedly paid to Prince Bandar bin Sultan in the Saudi case.
