Leaders of the world’s biggest economies on Wednesday claimed that a frenetic round of bilateral talks at the G8 summit in northern Japan had produced a new mood of optimism over the struggling so-called “Doha round” of world trade talks.
Gordon Brown, British prime minister, said after a meeting with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazilian president, that the stage was set for a successful outcome when trade ministers meet on July 21.
