Top-earning Barclays banker to quit

Roger Jenkins, the top-earning Barclays executive who was key in securing a £5.8bn ($9.5bn) capital injection for the bank from Middle Eastern investors last year, is leaving to set up his own business working with sovereign wealth funds on takeovers and corporate investments.

Mr Jenkins, said to be Barclays’ highest-paid employee, is negotiating the terms of his departure with senior bank colleagues. An announcement could come this week.
