GFI and Tullett Prebon in talks

GFI Group and Tullett Prebon are in talks about a combination of the two businesses to create the world’s second-largest inter-dealer broker by revenues, the two firms said on Thursday.

Such a combination would unite the second and third-largest players in the rapidly growing business of broking currencies, credit derivatives, interest rate and energy contracts in the vast over-the-counter markets, where deals are negotiated off-exchange.
