EU loosens Sky’s grip on Premiership

The European Commission on Thursday announced it had reached a deal with the Premier League to loosen Sky’s grip on live televised football in Britain.

A deal to split live football between different broadcasters was announced on Thursday following negotiations between the English Premiership and the European competition authorities. Brussels had threatened to take legal action against the league for restricting access to live football matches.
