Japan annual growth revised up to 3.3%

Japan’s economy outperformed both the US and euro zone in the first quarter of the year, growing 3.3 per cent on an annualised basis, according to revised government data published on Monday.

The strong gross domestic product data underscored the firmness of the Japanese recovery, already the longest since the end of the second world war. It also reinforced widespread expectations that the central bank would raise interest rates in August.
