Social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn have become the most effective ways to find information technology staff, according to a study published on Monday.

Some 58 per cent of IT recruitment consultants rate social networking sites as more useful for filling vacancies than advertisements in the print media, according to research from the Association of Technology Staffing Companies.
