Volkswagen plans for return to profit in US

Volkswagen is aiming to break even in the US in 2008 by increasing sales by one-third to 300,000, according to the head of the German carmaker’s American division.

Adrian Hallmark, who took over the US operations last year, said the combination of the recently launched Jetta and Passat saloons, better marketing and new models would return the heavily lossmaking business to the black in 2008.
