Darling to discuss insurers’ tax concerns

Alistair Darling, the chancellor, is to meet senior insurance executives this week, as the government and the industry seek to repair relations after tax changes that have put £35bn of annual life assurance sales at risk.

Mr Darling will attend a meeting of the Association of British Insurers’ board, which includes the heads of some of the UK’s biggest insurers, on Wednesday.
