France opens up industrial innovation fund

France is offering to include European companies in its plans to fund innovative industrial research projects, in a bid to boost the country's and the continent's competitiveness.

France is also proposing that Germany follow its lead in setting up an agency for industrial innovation. This would jointly fund cutting edge projects and help to develop long-term European expertise in high technology industries such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, solar cells and clean cars.
